But after helping Nora in a medical emergency, he finds himself more open to the witty and warm doctor. Local matchmakers would work overtime to match them, and Jake began to wonder if his campaign to get Nora to stay was for the town or because he couldn’t bear the thought of her going. leave.

I love that the gender role table has been changed and we see Jake as the character who is healing from pain and loss. Yes, Nora, she has things she’s healing, but in essence, I see more of a weakness than I feel that we’re usually allowed to see in a male character. It’s refreshing!

Nora and Jake’s entire relationship is a breath of fresh air. His willingness to be a helper, his presence, and his ability to just be a friend are huge draws. Their jokes make me laugh and I love how straightforward and outspoken they are. I even found myself contemplating some of my friendships and what I expected and received from them.

Also, every supporting character in this book adds to the sheer appeal. They interject, nosy, and it all blends together, but it’s so much fun!
