The writing in this book is very grounded, with great dialogue and a great mix of some humorous elements, as well as plenty of depth and drama. This book, set in L.A., follows a character who has just moved back to California from NYC. While I could do without going to NYC (just kidding!), I really enjoy seeing LA from a newcomer’s point of view in the city rather than being there for Hollywood. It shows a different side of a city that I would love to visit one day.

Usually, romance books revolve around the “they will/will not” motivation, except we all know they will so many of us are just racing to get to that point. Although there are only a few seconds of that, the rest of this book is really about the characters deciding if the relationship is worth it and struggling to keep their relationship alive. steadfast in spite of the whole world. Honestly, it’s refreshing to read a book that deals with the real struggles of a relationship, not just the struggles of trying to get one.
