Jack Reacher’s early novels were better, perhaps because they were more surprising. At this point, I feel like I know Jack Reacher all too well. However, Lee Child always likes a surprise ending and in this respect, “Personal” is no exception. Maybe because I’m young, I used to fantasize about a “Jack Reacher Life”. No attachments, no worries, simple and easy. No, I’m starting to feel sorry for him. I want him to settle down, fall in love and have children…

Lee Child did the same thing again. Jack Reacher is back and this time is persuaded to go to France because someone is spying on the French president. This is a killer with a service provider that leads Reacher from France to England and eventually back to the United States, his former military base, and an old acquaintance. Reacher is a nuanced character who can find his way out of the most difficult maze in minutes without raising an eyebrow and that’s what I like about him. Reacher has equal brains and muscles.
