Precious Cargo My Year of Driving the Kids on School Bus 3077 – Online Free Audiobook

Precious Cargo is a great book by author Craig Davidson.
A heartfelt, funny, and surprising memoir about a year of driving a bus full of children with special needs.

Cataract City, Craig Davidson has established himself as one of our most gifted novelists. But before writing that novel and before his earlier work, Rust and Bone, was made into a Golden Globe-nominated film, Davidson went through a period of poverty, apparent failure, and despair. . In this fascinating and trendy new work of non-fiction, Davidson tells the unflattering story of a tumultuous year in his life and of his unlikely relationships with some special children. Distinguished and vibrant, to his initial surprise and confusion and ultimately to his delight, was placed in his care for several hours a day – the children on the 3077 school bus.

One morning in 2008, desperate and impoverished when he tried to write but failed, Davidson pulled out of his mailbox a flyer that read “Bus Driver Wanted”. It was the first step toward a novel career: driving a school bus full of kids with special needs for a year. Armed only with a sense of humor similar to his own, an innovative approach to the challenge of driving a large, clumsy vehicle while rounding up a group of rowdy children and copper reserves.

Feeling surprised, Davidson took us along. He showed us his burgeoning relationship with the children on that bus, each of whom struggled physically as well as emotionally and socially, gradually but surely changing. change his life along with the lives of the “precious goods” he cares for. This is the extraordinary story of that year and those relationships. A moving, important and universal story about how we see and treat people with special needs in our society.

Precious Cargo was a disappointment. It’s a very simple story about a bus driver who, unlucky enough, ended up driving a small group of special needs students for a year. Except for one character, the author has only shallow student knowledge. A female student is barely mentioned. Scattered throughout the book are chapters of another book the author has written. They are a distraction. I can’t make myself read them to see if they’re relevant. Perhaps someone who has never been in a relationship with a child with special needs might find this book a bit interesting.
