What a great start to the series! This origin story sets the perfect premise for what’s to come and introduces readers to all the different characters we’ll see along the way. It’s a spin-off to the Miles Family series, and some of the events in Protect You actually take place before that series. It is not necessary to read The Miles Family series before starting this series, but it will help to understand the heroine of this book better if you do.

In addition to introducing this new world, Protecting You is also the beginning of Grace and Asher’s story. Childhood friends to lovers are my catnip, so I’ve absolutely loved these characters from the start. The book ends with a slight twist, but if you’ve read the Miles Family series, it won’t be as shocking. Aaron Shedlock and Samantha Cooke did an excellent job of telling the story and delivering truly moving performances. They fit the characters well and their voices really complement each other. I’m jumping right into the next book, Fighting For Us, and can’t wait to see how Grace and Asher’s story ends.
