Her letters are always written on black paper with silver handwriting. Sometimes there’s a week or three in a day, but I need them. She was the only one who kept me on track, convinced me, and accepted my everything.

We only have three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it?

Until I came across a picture of a girl online. Her name is Ryen, loves Gallo’s pizza and adores her iPhone. What is the chance?

So I’ve seen quite a few mixed reviews about this book. Some absolutely love it and others hate it because it’s so *problematic*. I walked in and thought, “Wow, that’s a dark romance, so maybe it’s going to matter?” And it’s certainly possible, but that’s not what keeps me stuck; what stuck me was the characters, and in the end I really enjoyed the book!

Misha and Ryen are Pen Pals from 5th grade. They live a town away from each other and have never met, never even searched for each other on the internet. Misha meets Ryen at his band’s party, and eventually realizes who she is, while she still doesn’t know who he is. Unfortunately, their time together was short, as a tragedy in Misha’s family caused him to stop writing, and Ryen didn’t know why.
