Here are some comments to help people better understand the content of this book:
01- This outstanding book deals with various life issues: finance, immigration, toxic substances, fishing rights, glass production, private education, cosmetology, issues The theme of the Catholic Church’s role in every life. The question is, are the people of Venice helpless, dying early so that the church can benefit financially? Commissario Brunetti tries to uncover the truth, tasks that pose many difficulties for himself.
02- Like the Commissario Brunetti in the previous installments, the Venetian police mystery has a lot going for it. The family interactions, the Questura personality, the descriptions of Venice, and the gripping episodes keep the reader engaged and continuing to traverse the page with interest and anticipation. Not only does she leave a solution to the fate of the main characters in the story, the personnel and the perpetrators, is the ultimate resolution of the crime.
We’re hanging – did those names get away with it? Will Brunetti’s cyber/health/computation threat declaration ever make it? Where and how did Marie Testa’s vida nuova appear?
03- The hidden secret of Donna Leon begins in a belated, seemingly unrelated police investigation. With their Venice communal setting, fans visit Venice more than once, reading books into the long night. Brunetti is clearly not interested in finding out anything about Sassi, the man who brought Maria in when she left the order and found his job, even as Brunetti was trying to find out. Maria must be a trust certificate or not? The as doesn’t have any special for this detective.
04- Once again Donna Leon used her excellent English style to tell another mysterious story involving Guido Brunetti. The story is set in Venice setting the precedent and then following the course of events to great results. I recommend these novels to anyone who has been to Venice – reading the stories is like revisiting the place and if a previous stay is more than a week, the reader will easily feel the pattern that description of Brunetti.
05- I enjoyed Leon’s sense of humor and witty satire. Her proper descriptions, her use of words and appropriate quotes and literary references.
