Before she has a chance to investigate the Gaian stockpile of new, mysterious high-tech weapons, an old enemy ambushes her: Samael’s henchman, Raum. He wants Ash’s help and won’t get a “lost” answer. She doesn’t know if she can trust Raum, but more than that, she can’t trust herself with Ash. Sooner or later he would catch up to her, and she feared that she wouldn’t be able to leave him a second time.

Regardless of her feelings, they will need synergy to face the terrifying discovery of the Gaia. She and Ash begin to realize that the goblin war is coming to Earth, and they may be the only ones who can stop it – if it’s not too late.

This book has one of the few stories about inner turmoil that I can understand and not shout a clear answer to the protagonist. The book is crafty with political games being played and showing different “factions” very interesting.

I picked up these books on a whim, wanting to try something different. They fit the bill and I’ve listened to them non-stop at work and around the house. The world is vivid and easily imagined while the characters are a perfect blend of modifiable but flawed imperfections!
