This is a great book that weaves the true history of the United States in the way that much of American society has experienced it into one great story. There are knights and heroes here fighting evil, but the knights don’t wear armor (and not even the knights CALLED) and the heroes are a part that can’t be seen and ignored of society. Great book.

RING SHOUT is awesome. It’s like a Southern Gothic sword and imaginary dark magic-think Conan meets Beloved. Maryse Boudreaux is my new favorite literary heroine. She’s awesome, and her singing sword is great. This book is incredibly entertaining, deeply thought-provoking, and beautifully written. This is a must read in my book – and I will definitely pick up more of the works of P. Djeli Clark.
