Royals is a beautiful book by author Rachel Hawkins.
Meet Daisy Winters. She is an unusual sixteen-year-old Floridian with mermaid red hair; a part-time job at Walmart, a perfect older sister who is almost engaged to the Crown Prince of Scotland. Daisy doesn’t want to live in the limelight, but the constant attention of the tabloids forces her to join Ellie at the relatively remote castle across the pond.

While dashing young Miles is assigned to teach Daisy the ropes to being regal, the prince’s mischievous younger brother causes scandal wherever he goes and tries his best to take Daisy with you. The tiara – and attractive Miles – may be trying to turn Daisy into a lady. . . but Daisy can rewrite the royal rule to suit herself.

This is the ultimate feel-good book. It’s cute, like Earth, it’s a glittering royal setting and the characters are hilarious. The main character Daisy is sarcastic and witty in a way like a real teenager but not at all naive. The book is filled with action and twists, almost in every chapter. There’s never a right place to put this book down because there’s always something new happening. I love how this book seems easy and comforting, but it also comes down to related issues like having a sibling who shines brighter than you and dealing with being second best and learning how not to. Pay attention to other people’s misconceptions about you. This book could have been written to fill the gap in the passage of time or establish a better romance, but I think the shortness of the book is really what makes it so simple and easy. sweet.
