The job is exhausting, especially dealing with the ill-tempered caretaker, a fishing captain named Harry, who is struggling to make ends meet to get his boat out of mooring. With the help of Harry and her alcoholic friend Weezie, BeBe quickly made the motel popular and attracted paying guests.

Later, Reddy is seen in Fort Lauderdale, and BeBe decides to go after him. She assembled a team, and with the inconsolable Grandpa Loudermilk snoring in the backseat of the Buick, headed south. The plan is to do a sting that might be a bit out of the way but that, with any luck, will get BeBe’s fortune back and put the vile Reddy in jail, where he belongs. And maybe Harry, who looks more muscular every day, will eventually get his boat back.

I love the characters of Bebe and Weezie and the way they develop. Mary Kay Andrews delivers again. The story is rich and interesting. From start to finish, I couldn’t stop listening. Conspiracy fun just like Lucy and Ethel of old. The development of 2 romances. One not so new, one completely new. Each character shows strength. Bebe’s grandparents, Weezie’s uncle James. We have enough background information about them to play small but integral parts of the story. You must read this exciting adventure!

Mary Kay Andrews writes wonderful “buddy books” (my phrase) that are fun and relaxing to read. The main character is always in deep trouble due to a wrong husband (often run away from town with all the money and a blonde girl) and she has to overcome all difficulties to overcome bad situations. AND always has a best friend supporting her and acting as an “accomplice”. Lots of fun to read – I’ve read them all and am collecting them so I can read them anytime.
