As Inversgail welcomes home her native daughter and best-selling environmental writer Daphne Wood as a boarding author for Inversgail schools, Janet Marsh and her business partners at Yon Bonnie Books look forward to Host a book signing session for her. However, Daphne’s people skills have developed some edge after living alone in the Canadian wilderness for many years and finding it difficult to work with her. Things only get more complicated when she arrives. That night, a young man – an American who had spent the night in a bed and breakfast on Yon Bonnie Books – was found dead outside a pub.

Knowing that Janet and her partners have solved a previous murder, Daphne tries to convince them to help her with the investigation. But while trying to prove herself to them, she died, poisoned by scones from the Yon Bonnie Books tearoom. Now to protect the reputation of their business – not to mention the reputation of the pies – Janet and her partners must solve both murders.

I loved the whole story, but the accent and emphasis when reading made it easy to believe they were actually in Scotland. The story is cleverly staged to leave you standing still and confused as to who actually “Finished it”. This is one of those books that you’ll find hard to put down, or in the case of an audiobook… Can’t stop listening until you’ve heard it all. TO LOVE IT!
