Shit, Actually is an art book by author Lindy West.
Lindy West served as an in-house film critic for Seattle’s alternative news weekly The Stranger, where she covered the film with brutal honesty and giddy irreverence. In Damn, Actually, Lindy returns to that roots, revisiting beloved and iconic films of the past 40 years with a look at the big questions of our time: Is Twilight Is it the most compelling movie in history? Why do the zebras in The Lion King trust Mufasa – a lion – to seek their best interests? Why would anyone bother making any more movies after The Fugitive hit perfection? And, my God, why aren’t any of the women in Love, Actually the f–king talking?

I don’t understand what all that fuss is about. Lindy West isn’t particularly funny, her writing style resembles a series of twitter rave reviews and most of her critical analysis has little or no resemblance to any of the films. that I actually watched. It feels like being in a movie theater with a few loudmouthed guys sitting behind you, commenting on plotlines, spitting popcorn on the back of your head, and screaming uncontrollably with their own hilarious jokes.

There are a lot of sentences that are locked with a row of exclamation points following them. An audio version of this book would be someone shouting at you. I may have laughed a few times in the process of her destroying Love, Actually, the book takes its name from, but that’s about it.

Never mind, I’m sure her friends in Seattle think she’s a genius. And if you review this book, don’t mention the title, because Amazon AI bots will reject it. How do you explain that?

While the author clearly loves movies and accepts some of the absurdities in them, her intelligence is most evident when she’s offended or taken aback by the plot or description. describe the character of a “favorite” movie. Each segment includes a chuckle (and often laugh lines) that will tickle even fans of the entertaining movies she gutted. Reward yourself with this movie buff’s criticism for Hollywood to do better.
