Equally funny and heartbreaking, this impassioned debut novel about fathers, sons, and autism. In this emotional and funny debut, Ben Jewell has reached his peak. In a small house in North London, three generations of men – one who can’t talk, two won’t – are thrown at each other.
As Ben faces single fatherhood, he must battle a host of well-meaning social workers and his own demons to advocate for his son, while learning some harsh lessons. about accountability from his own father. As the trial approaches, Jonah, happy with his innocence, becomes the prism through which all the intricate threads of personal identity, family history, and misunderstanding are finally unraveled. tangled.
This wildly humorous debut examines the complexities of family and human emotions, while providing insight into an often misunderstood disorder.
This book gets better and better as I read it. There are some great surprises in this book that I won’t reveal. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a “true” story. Very raw and honest. Would be a great group of books to read. Many things to discuss.
