Skeleton Coast is the fourth book in The Oregon Files series. It is written by Clive Cussler and Jack Du Brul. It is a suspense, thriller, and adventure fiction novel. This book has our familiar heroes as they attempt to quell a revolution, support another and save the coasts of America from certain infections and diseases. Scott Brick is a fascinating voice-actor. He is a good choice for the narration of this book, especially compared to the previous narrator of the first two books. It seems like he goes well with this genre.
Juan Cabrillo and his crew are aboard the covert combat ship known as Oregon. They have barely escaped from a mission in Congo as they intercept a mayday from a defenseless ship under fire. They receive this signal coming from the African Coast.
Cabrillo gets straight to the action. He ends up saving the beautiful Sloane Macintyre. She was looking for a long-submerged ship that may be holding treasures in the form of diamonds. She also tells him a crazy story about a fisherman who was attacked by giant metal snakes in the open sea. From there onwards, begins a snake hunt. However, it will lead Cabrillo into the jaws of a deranged militant and his followers.
This story has it all; radical environmentalists, uprisings in third world countries, diamonds, and high seas adventure. It is one of those feel-good stories where good prevails over evil. It is also different enough from the previous novels to not be repetitive this time around.
