Although this is a book written several years ago, as well as being made into a movie, it is well written and very well written. The characters are believable and bring to life the trials and tribulations of families of different ethnic backgrounds living in a small area of ​​the Bronx. It really has a magical twist, but for me, that adds to its charm.

Pete Hamill is a master storyteller. He seamlessly weaves the essence of New York history with stories of everyday life. These stories, “North River”, “Forever” and this also “Snow in August” are brought to life by a harmony of realism and sometimes magical vibrancy that only Pete can. perfectly created. Having just finished reading Snow in August, I struggled to choose which of his books was the best. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is a masterpiece.
