Someday Someday Maybe A Novel – Online Audiobook

Someday Someday Maybe – A Novel, Online Audiobook By: Lauren Graham

From Lauren Graham, beloved star of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, comes a witty, charming, and hilarious debut novel about a young actress struggling to rise – and maintain it – in New York City.

It was January 1995, and Franny Banks was just six months away from the three-year term she set for herself when she arrived in New York, dreaming of Broadway and doing “important” work. But all she has to show for her efforts so far is one part in an ad for ugly Christmas sweaters and a gig at a comedy club. Her roommate – her best friend, Jane; and Dan, an aspiring science fiction writer – are both supportive, but Franny knows that the two’s fan club isn’t exactly considered a success. People tell her she needs a backup plan, and even though she can almost envision coming home and settling down with her perfectly good ex-boyfriend, she still not ready to give up the goal of having a career like her idols, Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep. Not just given.

But while she dreams of filling their shoes, in the meantime, she happily tackles the said part of most things — and finds the right hair product combination.

Things are going on in the upcoming rollout for her acting class, where she’ll finally get the chance to perform for people who can actually hire her. And she can’t let herself be distracted by James Franklin, a notorious flirt and the most successful actor in her class, even though he’s suddenly starting to notice.

Meanwhile, her bank account is rapidly draining, her father wants her home, and her agent is not returning her calls. But for some reason, she always believed that she could achieve what she came for.

Someday, Someday, Maybe is a story about hopes and dreams, being young in a city, and longing for something deep, madly, desperately. It’s about finding love, finding yourself, and perhaps the hardest part in New York City is finding an acting job.

Love this book. My daughter and I are huge fans of Lauren Graham. We love her in every TV show, movie or guest appearance. When I saw that she was writing and reading this book at the same time, I had to give it a try. It was a great story and the performance was amazing. I hate seeing the book end.

I really liked this book. Is it a perfect work of literary art? No, but nothing lasts forever, and it’s hard not to be captivated by the author and her compelling style. It kept me entertained during my long commute to work in LA, and I found myself listening to it outside my car, because I couldn’t wait to hear the rest of the story. My only complaint is that it goes by too quickly and leaves me wanting more. (Lauren, I hope you’re writing a sequel – we need to see what happens next for Franny.
