I love Janet Evanovich, so when Goodreads recommended this book, I jumped at the chance. At first, I couldn’t stop comparing the two, there are so many similarities. I Initially I felt this was a bit everywhere. There are several scenes in the first few chapters that deal with the past of the main character, Lacey, leading up to this story. I double checked to see if I was starting with book 1 at the time. So it’s starting to get a bit confusing for me. I kept going though, and in the end I really enjoyed this book! I will definitely continue reading the series. And it turns out there’s already a prequel, so I guess that’s where I’ll find out more about Lacey’s back story. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.

The only thing I had a problem with was Let’s obsession with Black men and Dred locks. Not all people with Dred Lock are wild and free-spirited. India Arie who has no dreds (that I know of) has a song called “I am not my hair”. Hairstyles are a personal choice for all nationalities. Each culture wears different hairstyles depending on their personal preferences. Also, I love the audio book! This is my second time listening to it! I laughed and giggled as well as held my breath during the suspenseful scenes! Great listening/reading!!
