A strange event ensues with the arrival of Gil’s godfather, leading to a crisis. In the end, it was Alys who helped Gil identify the warden’s killer.

Like protagonist Gil Cunnigham, Pat MacInstosh is a graduate of the University of Glasgow, She lived and worked in Glasgow before settling on the West Coast of Scotland.

Another good book from pat McIntosh. near the end, i think i know who committed the murders and was right. Not often i get it right. Alys doesn’t help gil much in this part because she’s busy but we get to see gil’s two sisters. I like Humphrey, one of the inhabitants of the almshouse. Again Andrew Watson has done a great job implementing the book.

I don’t know of any other author I’ve read that has succeeded in bringing some mystical stuff into a story without getting into the impossible. There’s never been anything inexplicable in reality, but then again….. Liked the characters a lot and enjoyed their male/wife team. As a minor complaint regarding any series — the title should include the serial number.
