Steppenwolf – Audiobook Online
Steppenwolf – Audiobook Online By: Hermann Hesse
Harry Haller is a sad and lonely character, a reclusive intellectual whose life is devoid of joy. He struggles to reconcile the wild, primitive wolf and the rational man within him without surrendering to the bourgeois values he despises.
His life changes dramatically when he meets a woman who is his opposite, the carefree and elusive Hermine.
With a blend of Eastern mysticism and Western culture, The Steppe Wolf, Hessen’s most famous and autobiographical work, first published in English in 1929, continues to speak to the mind. our soul as a classic of modern literature.
The steppe wolf gave me courage when I first tried to understand my place in this world. it is always an old friend to help. It was amazing to hear Peter Weller narrate this, his voice was created for this book. it gave new life to my old friend. Listen. it’s a doozy.
This once-popular work by German Nobel laureate Hesse is profound, complex, and fascinating. And, while it’s concise, easy to read, and not overly dense, it’s not a page-turner. It is a highly philosophical work that emerges from the narrative sense of a man painfully searching for meaning outside of the ordinary structures of a laid-back middle-class. I listen to it when I have an energy that is not satisfied by horror movies.
