Strange Brew – Audiobook Online

Strange Brew is a science fiction book written by Caitlin Kittredge, Jim Butcher, P. N. Elrod, Karen Chance, Patricia Briggs, Faith Hunter, Charlaine Harris, Jenna Maclane, Rachel Caine.
Today’s hottest urban fantasy author comes together in this delicious beer, which will explode and boil with tales of powerful witches and dark magic!
In Charlaine Harris’ “Bacon,” a beautiful vampire teams up with a witch from an ancient lineage to find out who killed her beloved husband.

In “Seeing Eye” by Patricia Briggs, a blind witch helps seduced werewolf Tom Franklin find her missing brother – and helps him in many ways neither of them expected.

Jim Butcher’s last call, the wizard Harry Dresden assumes the darkest powers – those who dare to mess with his favorite beer.

For anyone who’s ever wondered what lies beyond the bounds of reality, who’s imagined secret spaces where witches cast terrifying spells, come and take a deep drink.

Seeing Eyes is a very short story. It’s only 38 pages, and in the hands of an inferior author, trying to build a world, create compelling characters, and tell a satisfying story within a few pages can be a disaster. Luckily for us, Patricia Briggs did an excellent job. The story is quite simple, Wendy Moira Keller (yes, named after the character Peter Pan), a blind witch, agrees to help a desperate werewolf, Tom Franklin, in search of her kidnapped brother. If you’ve read Brigg’s Hunting Ground already, these characters will be familiar to you. If you haven’t read it, start with See Eye first because it explains how Moira and Tom met. Although we spend such a short time with Moira and Tom, Brigg’s writes about them as complete characters. Moira is particularly compelling as she gives us a first-hand look at what the Witches look like in Mercy Thompson’s world. Mercy deals with all sorts of mystical creatures: vampires, goblins, werewolves, but she rarely interacts with witches. In Seeing Eyes, Brigg’s gets to explore that world a little more.

Strange Brew is an anthology of urban fantasy short stories written by New York Times bestselling authors like Charlaine Harris, Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs, and more.

The reason I chose this book is because I’m a huge fan of author Jim Butcher, especially his Dresden Records series (books and TV miniseries). Strange Brew contains one of his short stories, “The Last Call,” about Wizard P.I. Chicago’s first (and only) Harry Dresden. I think purchasing this book will not only help me read this short story, but also discover authors whose stories I have never read before.
