There’s a lot to like here. Mr. Sandford is very good with scenes involving criminals conspiring with each other, as well as scenes involving the terrible winter weather in Minnesota that interferes with the arrest of said criminals. Both types of scenes abound here and both are well done. It’s hard not to like Lucas Davenport, even with all his core right-wing traits, as even his more moderate and leftist friends are constantly finding out (despite the nun friend). I love every book by this author. The action is tempered with great deductive reasoning AND deep, amazing character development. Real people go through Real (if beyond Normal) Situations and make sense while planning how to deal with the Suspect. Learning the basic stories of the characters is a great Literary Tool and it happens because you don’t know how things are going to turn out.
