The Address By Fiona Davis

When a chance meeting with Theodore Camden, one of the architects of a large apartment building in New York, Dakota, leads to a job offer for Sara Smythe, her world is suddenly filled with new ideas. ability – no small feat for a servant in 1884. Opportunity to move to America. Opportunity to be a female manager of Dakota. And the chance to see more of Theo, who knows Sara better than anyone… and lives in Dakota with his wife and three young children.

One hundred years later, Bailey Camden craves new opportunities: Fresh out of rehab, the former interior designer becomes homeless, unemployed, and penniless. Bailey’s grandfather was the protégé of the famous architect Theodore Camden, but Bailey would not see a dime in the substantial Camden family fortune; instead, “cousin” Melinda – Camden’s biological niece – will inherit almost everything. So when Melinda offered to let Bailey oversee the renovation of her lavish Dakota apartment, Bailey jumped at the opportunity, even though she didn’t like Melinda’s vision. The renovation would take away all the features of the apartment in which Theodore Camden lived…and died there, after being stabbed multiple times by a former Dakota employee who had previously spent seven months in madhouse – a madwoman named Sara Smythe.

A century apart, Sara and Bailey are both tempted and struggling against the golden excess of their respective ages – for Sara, the wealth of a world ruled by Astor and the Vanderbilts; for Bailey, the free drink and cocaine of the nightlife – and take shelter in the gilded bastion of the Upper West Side. But a building with a history as rich and often tragic as the Dakota building can’t be kept a secret forever, and what Bailey discovers inside could turn everything she thought she knew about Theodore Camden – and who he was. the woman who killed him – becomes meaningless. head.

This is an interesting story. It has its flaws – I find it too formulaic at times, but overall, it’s a piece worth listening to. It’s basically a daytime drama, but in a good way.
