The Butterfly Effect – Audiobook Online

The first “smart, confident, and necessary” cultural biography (Shea Serrano, New York Times bestselling author) of rap superstar and “master storyteller” (The New Yorker) Kendrick Lamar explores his rapid rise to fame and profound impact on an America rife with racism – perfect for fans of Zack O’Malley Greenburg’s Empire State of Mind.

Kendrick Lamar is at the top of his game.

The 13-time Grammy Award-winning rapper is just over 30 years old, but he’s already won a Pulitzer Prize for Music, produced and curated the soundtrack of the super hit Black Panther, and was named one of the 100 Time influencers. But what’s even more striking about the Compton-born lyricist and performer is the way he establishes himself as a formidable enemy of oppression and the force of change. Through his confessional poetry, political hymns, and radical performances, Lamar has become a beacon of light for countless people.

Written by veteran music journalist and critic Marcus J. Moore, this isn’t just Kendrick Lamar’s first biography. “It’s an in-depth analysis of the life of the kind-hearted kid the crazy city raised him, and how it ignited the fire in Kendrick Lamar to change history” (Kathy Iandoli, author of Baby Girl) for the better.

This book is well written. Unlike what one reviewer stated, this book does NOT indulge Macklemore and the Grammy Award. That’s two or three legit, TOPS. This book arranges a streamlined timeline between Kendrick’s music and events occurring in the Black community. Great to know more about Kendrick and his art but even more amazing to see how his music has impacted the community. Overall, The Butterfly Effect is a great book for hip-hop lovers and those who want to see what hip-hop influences are like.
