From the author of Seven Brilliant Deaths by Evelyn Hardcastle, winner of the Costa Best Debut Novel Award, comes a bold and unique new murder mystery.

I absolutely love the idea, writing style, and character development in this 17th-century Sherlock Holmes-style romp on a Dutch East Indies. Unfortunately, the ending has become contrived and unbelievable to facilitate a follow-up companion. A bit cheesy but still worth reading.

When I picked up the next listen from my Audible library, I reread the title of this book in detail and wondered why I bought it because it didn’t match my genre. Then I saw the author’s name and remembered that’s why I bought it, and that Evelyn Hardcastle’s Seven Deaths is brilliant! This book is also excellent, and I will be looking for more books by this author. Excellent.
