The Education of Margot Sanchez – Audiobook Online

“The Education of Margot Sanchez” by Lilliam Rivera is a coming-of-age novel about a teenage girl named Margot who comes from a privileged background but struggles to fit in at her new school after being caught stealing from her father’s business. Margot spends her summer working at the family grocery store in the Bronx, where she learns about the lives of the working-class people in her community and begins to question her own identity and values. As she navigates friendships, romance, family expectations, and self-discovery, Margot learns important lessons about responsibility, empathy, and staying true to herself.

Things/people Margot hates:

Mami, for destroying her social life
Papi, for allowing Junior to become a Neanderthal
Junior, for being a Neanderthal
Supermarket
everyone else
After “borrowing” her father’s credit card to buy a more stylish wardrobe, Margot Sanchez suddenly found herself in a position. And by base, she was meant to work as a contracted servant in her family’s struggling grocery store to pay off debt.

With every order of cold cuts she cuts, Margot can feel her carefully cultivated prep school reputation slip from her fingers, and she’s willing to do anything to escape this punishment. Lie, cheat, and maybe even steal.

Margot’s last beach party invitation is within reach and she has no intention of letting her family drama or Moises – the admittedly handsome but outspoken guy from the neighborhood – prevent her from achieving her goal.

Great read. RIvera is a great story teller. I was hooked from page one. I will definitely be sharing this with my students.
