Very well written and researched! As someone interested in the history of Detroit and after reading this author’s excellent book, I would highly recommend this book.

Read this story, because my father (our family is originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan) bought an Auburn Speedster in 1934 at a police auction. He loved his cars, but couldn’t afford a new model, as they were expensive luxury cars at the time. The story my dad told was that it was a car owned by Harry Fleisher, the leader of the Detroit-based “Purple Gang”. While cleaning the car, he found several loaded magazines for the .45 Cold Semi-Auto pistol and a 50-round loaded magazine for the Thompson Submachine Gun. They are under the back seat. According to my sister, there was also an empty bank bag. Anyway, that’s why I bought the book to read about the history of this gang. Good read!

After reading finishing my second book by this author, I had to order another. I have always been intrigued by the Purple Gang, and was so glad I saw this book. Well worth reading!

This is a very interesting book about the infamous Purple Gang operating in Detroit in the 1920s during Prohibition.
