“The End Zone” by L.J. Shen is a steamy contemporary romance novel about Jolie Louis, a struggling sports agent who finds herself falling for her client, an arrogant and talented football player named Sage Poirier. As their professional relationship turns into a romantic one, they must navigate their pasts and the challenges of fame and celebrity while trying to stay true to themselves and each other. The narration by Tessa Ellory and Joe Arden brings the characters to life with their dynamic performances.

“The End Zone” also deals with themes such as friendship, family, and trust in oneself. The novel has been praised for its well-drawn characters, witty banter, and steamy romance. The author’s writing style has been described as engaging, captivating and addictive, making the book difficult to put down. Overall, it is a light-hearted, emotional and enjoyable read for lovers of romance and contemporary fiction.

Jolie Louis is a smart girl. She knows that her best friend, Sage Poirier, is a bad idea. He’s a walker, cliché. Midfielder Adonis with his bulging biceps and fangirls following him across campus like a stench you can’t get rid of. Sadly, that was also the reason why she couldn’t stay away from him. Well, that and the fact that they are roommates.

Jolie was already straddling the line between friendship and more when Sage came to her with an offer she couldn’t refuse: Be his fake girlfriend and live free for the rest of the semester. She told herself she could handle it. He’s just the boy she saved 10 years ago, isn’t he? Wrong. So very wrong. Now he is a man, and she is his prisoner, his heart, body and soul….

I love how two best friends realize their love for each other and have a happy ending. I was a bit sad because from the first time they went to the NYC party together, they were eliminated. It makes the story feel a bit rushed. enjoyed it regardless.

This was a great read for in between all of the heavy books I’ve been reading lately. It was light hearted, fun, sexy, and pretty funny! There was one little part where you find out what the secret is that someone has been hiding throughout the book that is a tad heavy but it doesn’t make the content as a whole feel emotionally draining. There was just enough angst to keep things interesting considering it is a short story. I also thought it had a good pace to it for a novella. I personally didn’t feel like the story was being rushed in any way. I got just enough detail and back story to understand what was going on in the characters lives as well as explaining the depth of their friendship that started in childhood without having to extend the book into a full length novel.
