The Fallen / Quinn Colson, Book 7, Audiobook Online By: Ace Atkins

A classic Southern tale of behind-the-scenes dealings, tainted honor, dysfunctional families, reckless greed – and everyday heroism – from the bestselling author of New York Times.

Mississippi police chief, Quinn Colson, had to admit that he admired bank robbers. A new bank was attacked almost every week, and robbers barged in and out with skill and precision that reminded him of raids he led in Afghanistan and Iraq when he Also a Ranger. In fact, it reminded him so much of the techniques in the Ranger’s Manual that he couldn’t help but wonder if the outlaws were the same former Rangers. And that will certainly be a problem. If he has any chance of catching them, he will need the help of old allies, new enemies and a lot of luck. The enemies he has are many. It is the allies and the luck that will be unfortunately in short supply.

Ace Atkins has done a great job describing the small town north of Mississippi. If you follow his directions, he might be writing about the town where I grew up, without bars and legal dividers, because it’s a dry county. However, people and attitudes are very real. Once again, Colton finds himself up against the political power brokers of MS, who are also real and have shown their power since Reconstruction. This book is raw and true.

Like CJ Box before it, John Sandford and Faye Kellerman before it, Ace Atkins weaves together the history and development of a family through a series of really good crime stories. Reading Quinn Colson book after book is like reading a good long novel. Really recommended.
