The Final Day By William R. Forstchen – Audiobook Online
“The Final Day” is a post-apocalyptic novel by William R. Forstchen, and it is the third book in his “John Matherson” series. The story is set in the aftermath of a devastating electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack that has destroyed the infrastructure of the United States, leaving it vulnerable to outside threats.
In this final book, John Matherson and his community are faced with the threat of a foreign invasion from China. The community must come together to fend off the invaders and protect their way of life.
However, the threat they face is not just from the outside. The remnants of the US government are also a danger to the survivors as they try to assert their authority and control over them.
Throughout the book, we see the struggles and sacrifices made by John and his community as they fight to survive in a world forever changed by the EMP attack. Ultimately, the story ends on a note of hope as the community comes together to rebuild and create a new future for themselves.

The highly anticipated follow-up to William R. Forstchen’s New York Times best-sellers, One Second After and One Year After, The Final Day immerses listeners once more in the story of our nation’s struggle to rebuild itself after an electromagnetic pulse wipes out all electricity and plunges the country into darkness, starvation, and terror.
After defeating the designs of the alleged federal government, John Matherson and his community have returned their attention to restoring the technologies and social order that existed prior to the EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) attack. Then the government announces that it is ceding large portions of the country to China and Mexico. The Constitution is no longer in effect, and what’s left of the US Army has been deployed to suppress rebellion in the remaining states.
The one sent to confront John is General Bob Scales, John’s former commanding officer and best friend from the pre-war days. Will General Scales follow orders or could he be the turning point in his quest for a united America again? As the questionable Federal government increasingly restricts freedoms and trades sovereignty, they may get exactly what they fear: revolution.
If you liked “One Second After” and “One Year After”, “The Last Day” is a must to listen and/or read. It was the perfect ending to the series. Bronson, the narrator of “One Year After” is back and better then ever. His narration brings this story to life. Looking forward to listening to and reading all three books again soon.
