The Lace Maiden – Audiobook Online

“The Lace Maiden” is the first book in “The Smuggler’s Daughters” series by Evie Grace. It follows the story of sisters, Tassie, Tatty, and Minnie Lennicker, who live in a small village on the coast of Kent, England, in the early 1800s. The Lennicker sisters, who have a talent for designing and creating beautiful lace garments, navigate the treacherous world of smuggling and try to protect their livelihood while also dealing with matters of the heart.

When their father, a notorious smuggler, passes away, the sisters must take the responsibility of keeping their family’s legacy alive. The sisters’ talent for designing and creating lace garments soon attracts the attention of local merchants who offer them lucrative commissions, which only increases their involvement in the smuggling trade. However, as the sisters become more entangled in the world of smuggling, they find themselves facing unexpected danger from ruthless smugglers. As their lives become more complicated, they also find themselves struggling with matters of the heart.

Amidst these challenges, the sisters’ story intertwines with that of other characters in the village, including handsome Nicholas Holladay, a man who is deeply involved in the smuggling trade but has a heart of gold, and Captain Buchan, a naval officer who is determined to bring down the smugglers. The book is a tale of resilience, romance, and intrigue, set against the backdrop of a small village on England’s coast. It delves into the complex lives of the smugglers, merchants, and sailors who make their living along the coast, and the difficulties they face in a world where loyalty is tested and secrets are hard to keep.

The first novel in the all-new Smuggler’s Daughter trilogy set during the Napoleonic Wars on the Kentish Coast by best-selling author Evie Grace. Perfect for Dilly Court and Poldark fans.

Deal, Kent. 1811. The center of the British smuggling business.

Deal is a deserted town where the streets are ruled by villains….

The Lennicker sisters lived in a small house nestled among countdown houses, shops, and inns, where smugglers conspired and beachgoers drank.

When their father – a fisherman and smuggler – is murdered by a rival gang, eldest daughter Louisa is forced to make a living by illegally trading in French lace. She will do anything to keep her sisters home, but what she really wants is a way to get revenge.

With the threat of Napoleon reaching the shores of England, the risk could not be higher. One wrong move and Louisa could risk losing not only her sisters but her life as well.

The story is so good I don’t want to put the book down. Can’t wait to read the second book. Ease of reading would definitely recommend the story and the author.

This is a great story, but then I enjoyed reading about that era, especially the smuggling trade….well written and I’m nearing the end. Can’t wait to read the second one. Evie Grace did a lot of research on this book!
