- A Novel
From Liane Moriarty, author of the New York Times number one bestsellers Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers, comes an unforgettable novel defined by her signature sharp wit, engaging plot and lovable and eccentric characters.
An explosive family secret. A treacherous first kiss. A mystery solved. A tested marriage. It all happened on one extraordinary night – the ultimate celebration!
Sophie Honeywell always wondered if Thomas Gordon was the one who ran away. He was the perfect boyfriend, but on the day he proposed, she broke his heart. A year later, he married his travel agent, while Sophie has remained pitifully single ever since. Now, Thomas has returned to her life as Sophie unexpectedly inherited Aunt Connie’s house on Scribbly Gum island – home of the famous unsolved Munro Baby mystery.
Sophie moves to the island and begins a new life as a member of a unique family where everyone seems to have a secret. Grace, a beautiful young mother, is frantically planning her escape from her perfect life. Margie, a tough housewife, has made a pact with a stranger, while Aunt Rose dreamily wonders if it might be time for her to start making her own decisions.
As Sophie’s life becomes more and more complicated, she discovers that sometimes you have to stop waiting around – and come up with your own fairy tale ending.
I love this author, she really knows how to write about people. It starts slow but trust the author. This story made me feel all kinds of emotions. I can actually relate to some characters. I like the other storytellers Moriarty has used in the past but the story is great. It is a must listen! I sign in under my husband’s name but I think many types of listeners will enjoy this book.
