The Last Man In Tehran A Novel – Audiobook Online

“The Last Man in Tehran” is a political thriller novel. The story follows CIA agent, Wendell Meade, who is stationed in Tehran during the Iranian hostage crisis in the 1970s. Meade is tasked to confirm the location of a high-value target, known only as “Iranshah,” who has information about a potential terrorist attack on American soil. Meade teams up with a local Iranian agent named Rana, with whom he develops a complex relationship. As Wendell and Rana follow leads to track down Iranshah, they realize that their mission is much more complicated than they anticipated. They are caught in a web of politics and espionage, where everyone seems to have their own agenda. The operation becomes more perilous when the Iranian revolution breaks out, and chaos erupts in the city.

Wendell and Rana must navigate through the societal upheaval while being pursued by the Iranian secret police. They must also deal with their growing attraction to each other, which adds another layer of complexity to their mission. As Meade and Rana close in on their target, they uncover a plot to derail the peace talks and spark a possible war. The story climaxes with a high-stakes mission to stop this attack and prevent a catastrophe.

The Last Man In Tehran / A Novel, Audiobook Online By: Mark Henshaw

Current CIA analyst Mark Henshaw continues the “authentic, engaging, and revealing” Red Cell series (Jason Matthews) following special agent Kyra Stryker, who must work to save the CIA from a spy. Messages at the top tore apart, with the help of recently retired analyst, Jonathan Burke.

When a dirty bomb explodes in an Israeli port, Israel’s fearsome intelligence agency – the Mossad – unleashes their deadliest assassins on the globe. They suspect that Iran supplied the radioactive material used in the attack and that Israel will defend its homeland by any means necessary.

Meanwhile at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, Kyra Stryker has just settled into her new position: head of Red Cell, the CIA’s special operations think tank. Shortly after the attack on Israel, the CIA discovered evidence that a spy in Langley was helping the Mossad wage a secret war. The FBI opens a counterintelligence investigation led by an ambitious agent who quickly identifies the suspect.

Not convinced that the FBI has the right people, Stryker asks for help from her former mentors – now retired Red Coffin Chief Jonathan Burke and his wife, former CIA Director Kathryn Cooke – to protect the scapegoat. Conveniently, find out the truth and convince Mossad to stop its assassination campaign before a world war breaks out in the Middle East. Kyra’s campaign takes her to Iran, where she uncovers kidnapping, torture, underground diplomacy and an illegal activity, but also finds help from the most unlikely source she could imagine.

Mark Henshaw has once again given his listeners an amazing ride through the world of modern espionage and ongoing global events. George Newbern did a great job of narrating and interpreting the text. I await the next cooperation with great eagerness.

The structure of this layered story is very engaging. Then add the flow and great style of the prose. Seriously not seeing the solution(s) until they’ve been masterfully unfolded. The story is filled with hope and examples of human kindness in unexpected places and ways, even in the midst of terrible conflict.
