The Nothing Girl is the first book in the Frogmorton Farm series by Jodi Taylor. The novel follows the story of Jenny, a young woman who has spent her entire life being told that she is mentally ill and unable to function in the world. Despite all of this, Jenny discovers that she has a vivid imagination and a talent for storytelling. She creates an imaginary friend named Thomas, who helps her to navigate the challenges of her daily life. However, when she inherits a rundown farm from her uncle, Jenny must face the reality of her situation and begin to take control of her life. As she works on restoring the farm, Jenny discovers that the property has a mysterious history and is rumored to be haunted. She also meets a man named Russell, who becomes her friend and helps her to unravel the secrets of Frogmorton Farm. Throughout the novel, Jenny learns to trust herself and her instincts, and discover the truth about her past and her family. She also learns that she is not alone in her struggles, and that there are people out there who are willing to believe in her and help her to live a meaningful life. Overall, The Nothing Girl is a heartwarming and charming novel about self-discovery, family, and the power of imagination to overcome even the darkest of circumstances.

Fans of the Chronicle of St. Jodi Taylor’s best – selling Mary will love the quirky humor in this new contemporary novel. Jodi Taylor, International Woman of Mystery, had a stint working undercover for the North Yorkshire County Library Service. Thoroughly disguised as the world’s worst facilities manager, she delivers dead dogs, falls out of a portable library, and spends way too much time in the men’s restroom. The idea to rewrite history first came to her while studying A – level history in an evening class.
Jodi Taylor’s St Mary series has become one of my favorites. Jodi Taylor’s character development, well-thought-out plot lines, combined with humor and sarcastic satire are exactly my favourites. I bought this book with some trepidation. It doesn’t have the same level of excitement and time travel setting as in the St Mary’s series but it does contain the wit and humor expected from Jodi’s writing. The story follows an extremely shy and isolated young woman struggling to grow up. There is a bit of magic mixed with a bit of mystery. Credit value.
I have read all the books of St. Mary, but this is my first Jodi Taylor title outside of the series. I love it. I really don’t see the ending coming, but want to assure you that you won’t regret it. All the seemingly unrelated details are brought together perfectly, something only Taylor can do. I don’t like dull stories, and there’s a bit of that, but that’s for good reasons and well done. Absolutely a great book to listen to well read by this narrator. Very worth it. Grandma.
