I had heard a lot of good things about this book and unintentionally attributed it to the author’s charisma and the success of her previous two books, but I was overwhelmed. Total. This book grabs your lapel and doesn’t let go. The cover is perfect and it’s an easter egg in itself so I’m not giving it away. And ends! Did not see that will come. Narrated by two of my favorite actors, the listening was enjoyable. Who knew John Keating could be so cunning.
The narrative is excellently descriptive without any pompous prophecy so the reader can follow the story in real time. There is no hint of real direction so that the reader can be surprised and amused. I like a mystery that surprises me. The only thing that initially distracted me was the female voice being used in one of the real and sometimes overly dramatic crime TV shows. Otherwise a great read.
