I have found a new author to love!!! This story is not only sweet but also hot! Funny! Cute!! Heart-pounding and very romantic!! Love the storyteller!! She adds a lot to the book. I will look for more from this author!

I don’t read a lot of M/F romances these days but Gena Showalter will be the attending author at virtual Coastal Magic 2021 in February so I really wanted to read one of her books. Well, instead, I listened to one and loved it.

Love this story. I had a bit of a problem with the narrator at the beginning. I usually listen to a book at 130%. When I slow it down to 105%, I like it a lot more. Then I had to match the narrator’s voice to the voice in my head. With that taken care of, I started the book again. I haven’t even finished the first chapter yet so it didn’t take long. After that, it all worked out and I quickly joined Kenna’s life.

The One You Want was my first Gena Showalter book and the first audio performance I heard by Savannah Richards. I’m very picky about female storytellers; most of us have heard that don’t do very well with male characters’ voices, so I’m very excited about this book’s performance. All the different voices are easy to distinguish and keep track of who is speaking. I will definitely try the other books done by Savannah.

As for the story, I really liked it. It’s not a really long book – 121 pages/4 hours 24 minutes – but it has a lot of content. Had a lot of super hot, sexy times. Both main characters have suffered emotional trauma in the past. His father and her mother had an affair while marrying someone else. They haven’t seen each other in years and now they are about to become step brothers.

I really like how all the characters connect with each other. It’s a small town romance and everyone knows everyone’s business. Unfortunately for Kenna, she hasn’t been able to fully overcome her (IMHO) bad girl reputation no matter how hard she tries.

Dane has everything money can buy except a committed relationship – he just can’t do it. In particular, he never dated women with children – until he couldn’t resist Kenna.

This audiobook is a great way to pass the time when I’m doing housework and I’m glad I listened to it.
