Overall, The Perfect Catch by Alix Nichols is a captivating story that showcases the relentless pursuit of success in the world of water polo. Noah Masson’s journey serves as an inspiration to readers, highlighting the importance of determination, hard work, and resilience in achieving one’s dreams.

French goalkeeper Noah Masson wants to prove his worth to the Coach and help his team win the gold medal. With an unruly personality for the company, part-time gigs to pay rent, and the National Water polo Championship fast approaching, Noah is 100% focused on his goal.

That is, until he comes across a beautiful intruder rummaging through his kitchen….

American realtor-in-training Sophie Bander wants to convince her overbearing father that she can become a first-class agent.

Now she is in Paris, learning experience at a big company. When it’s done, she’ll return to Key West, join her father’s business, and marry the man of his dreams. It’s not like she expected to be attracted to that man. After all, Sophie had never felt sexually attracted to her.

That is, until a tough keeper mistook her for a thief and pressed her against the wall in his kitchen.

Noah Masson, the third and youngest of the Darcy brothers, inherited his share from his late father’s trust and various properties. In Noah’s case, Chateau D’Arcy is his, where he hasn’t been since his mother left his father, took him with him, and left behind Noah’s two older brothers. He chose to leave it destroyed and ruined, instead of acknowledging the betrayal of his father and brothers, or the legacy of his family.

Unfortunately for him, his view from ‘Maman’ is biased and dishonest, as she finds it necessary to punish and distance herself from her husband and older sons who are with him. Her blatant lies pit Noah against his brothers, and even when Sebastian’s wife Diane (Find You In Paris) reaches out to him, he remains aloof.

Sophie Bander, from Key West, is living for six months in France with her mother, while interning at a local real estate company. She is taking a break from her extremely protective father to start a career in real estate on her own, not under the auspices of her father’s business. When she gets back, she’ll marry the man her father chose to build a real estate business in Key West, because she’s not interested and doesn’t believe in sex or interesting love. He also started her real estate portfolio by buying a rented building and she is now Noah’s new landlady.

Knowing him only as Noah Masson, an elite water polo athlete whose team is fighting for a world championship and who delivers pizza for some cash, they begin to spend time together and can sense a growing rapport between them. Noah asks for her knowledge in giving him advice to help his ‘friend’ sell the Chateau D’Arcy family mansion because the ‘friend’ needs the money, she falls in love with it instead, advising his ‘friend’ at all costs to keep it in the family.

Love is not something easily achieved when one person hides their family circumstances, and correspondingly overbearing and controlling parents step in when their original plans seem to be derailed.

I began to rely on Miss Nichols to provide a solid romance. This latest book delivers for sure. It was engaging enough, that I read it in one sitting. It was powerful enough to make me ignore my personal objections. I don’t like books written in the first person, like memoirs. Normally writers can’t handle such a challenge, Miss Nichols can’t. Her story runs smoothly, and is never boring on the way to a happy ending. The heroes have enough issues to turn them around, to bring the story to life, but not to the point where the reader starts to turn the page. Perfect balance.
