The book shows both sides of the events and addresses the conspiracies, as well as why they could be turned off. The description of the assassination and the funeral is very suspenseful and mournful. Great book to listen to!

As author James Swanson did with his book Manhunt on the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, he has now written an account of the assassination of President John Kennedy for young readers titled “The President Has Been Shot.” This book is suitable for middle school students, high school students, and even those who read well at the elementary level. The book contains many images so that the reader is not intimidated by each page of text only. Author Swanson doesn’t believe in the multitude of conspiracy theories out there but focuses on three bullets fired by Lee Harvey Oswald as the lone gunman. President Kennedy’s journey from his arrival in Texas along with Lee Oswald’s movements being tracked until they met when the assassination took place was cleverly covered up. The killer chase, the President’s funeral, the Oswald murder of Jack Ruby and the aftermath are all well covered. These would be good gifts for a young person on your list.

I received this and another of his books for my best friend’s birthday because she loves this author and the books he writes. She loved the book he wrote about Martin Luther King Jr, so I thought she would love this one and she did!! And it’s also a very good book!! Like very high quality!! Very satisfied with my purchase and definitely recommend!
