In the sequel to The Queen’s Rising, Brienna chose passion over blood, but can she put her country before her heart?
Perfect for fans of the Six of Crows and Sarah J. Maas.
Finally, Brienna is a mistress of knowledge and is taking on the role of daughter of Davin MacQuinn, a disgraced lord who has returned to Maevana to claim his home. Although she has just survived a revolution that will eventually return a queen to the throne, she faces another difficult test. She must prove herself trustworthy to MacQuinns. But as Queen Isolde Kavanagh’s closest confidant, she’ll have to strike a balance between serving her father’s family and her country. And then there’s Cartier Evariste, an entirely separate element in her new life.
Now known as Aodhan Morgane, Cartier is adapting to the stark contrast between his pre-rebellious life in Valenia as a master of knowledge and his present life as lord of a ruined house. During the restoration of his castle, he discovers a 10-year-old boy named Tomas, whose past and origins are a complete mystery. So when Cartier’s former student Brienna liked Tomas as much as he did, he let his mind wander – what if he didn’t have to raise him or his house alone?
As Lannon’s trial quickly approaches, Brienna and Cartier must put their emotions aside to focus on strengthening their alliance, administering justice, and ensuring that no one interferes with the queen’s coronation. But resistance is reverberating among supporters of the old regime, who are desperate to find a weak spot in the rebel forces. And nothing makes a person more vulnerable than deep love.
Omg I love this story so much. Lots of characters to love and a plot that turns in interesting ways. I cannot recommend this book and series highly enough! I wish I could read on and experience more adventures in this world with these beautiful characters and will definitely seek out more from this talented author!!
