The Renegade By JN Chaney – Audiobook Online

The Renegade is the first book in the series of the same name, written by JN Chaney. It is a science fiction novel that takes place in a dystopian future where humanity has colonized other planets. The story follows the protagonist, Captain Anders Cross, a former soldier turned smuggler who becomes entangled in a dangerous conspiracy.

The book begins with Captain Cross and his crew on their ship, the Renegade, taking on a risky smuggling job. However, things quickly go awry when they are ambushed by a rival gang and forced to crash-land on an abandoned planet. Stranded and low on supplies, Cross and his crew must find a way to survive and repair their ship.

As they explore the desolate planet, they discover that it was once inhabited by an advanced alien race known as the Ancients. The Ancients mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind remnants of their technology and secrets that could change the course of humanity’s future.

Cross soon realizes that there are others interested in the secrets of the Ancients, including a powerful corporation called Novacorp. Novacorp will stop at nothing to obtain the ancient technology and use it for their own gain. Cross finds himself caught in the middle of a deadly game of cat and mouse as he tries to outmaneuver both Novacorp and other dangerous factions.

Throughout the book, Cross must confront his own past and make difficult choices that will determine not only his fate but also the fate of those around him. He forms alliances with unlikely allies and faces off against formidable enemies, all while trying to uncover the truth about the Ancients and their legacy.

The Renegade is a thrilling adventure filled with action, suspense, and exploration of moral dilemmas. It explores themes such as power, corruption, loyalty, and the consequences of one’s actions. With its well-developed characters and intricate world-building, the book keeps readers engaged from start to finish.

Overall, The Renegade is a captivating science fiction novel that combines elements of space opera, dystopia, and mystery. It sets the stage for an epic series that delves deeper into the secrets of the Ancients and the challenges faced by Captain Anders Cross.

That means taking the job and not questioning whether it involves smuggling, transporting fugitives, or doing other much less healthy work. Whatever the circumstances, Jace is willing to do what it takes to achieve his dreams and live the life he’s always wanted.

That is, until he is confronted with an item of unprecedented value – something that can give him everything he needs to pay off his debt and be free.

The only problem is that selling it would also alter the balance of power between the two largest empires in the galaxy.

And spark another intergalactic war.

Unfortunately for Jace, it won’t take him long to decide. Rebels, assassins, and government agents are also after this item, and unlike Jace, they won’t hesitate to kill.

It’s rare these days that I actually laugh out loud, this time I certainly did. I thoroughly enjoyed the features Daniels provided and the roller coaster Chaney let him ride. I enjoyed that Daniels brought more flavor to the story than simply in the dialogue. You get the feeling that Jace JUST finished his adventure and he’s retelling it in a fresh way. Well done by both sides. I’m excited for the second book!

Following Jace Hughes to his shady beginnings sometimes intrigues me. We can see him as a newer Traitor, someone who is still unknown to the mystery of the Earth. Pro tip: listen to the end of the audio track for some hilarious Luke Daniels fouls!

This book is a breath of fresh air! I love Jace and the entire Star of Betrayal series. He’s a charismatic wanderer and an interesting character to follow. Right up there with the best like Han Solo. If we could get more of these books, I would love it.

This can be considered a prequel to the rebellious series. Traitor Star is another series written by JN Chaney that has great character development and a really strong story. This is the background story of key smuggler Jake and his first adventure. Great listening.

Entertaining with drama and action, then a convincing ending. With that said, the first half of Luke isn’t in his voiceover game. He changed it to be more sensible than the New Jersey accent he used at first.
