And again I’m honestly READY FOR MORE. If I had to rank my favorite Glynn’s world, I wouldn’t be able to. Figure? Definitely forget it. YET something with Roslyn Chambers resonates with me. She rose up quickly, but not due to a lack of skill/merit/toughness. It is impossible not to root for her. This book has the classic Glynn Stewart twists and turns we all know and love – you know they’re coming but they still slap you in the face. I’ve always been a fan of surprises. I did not let down. The pace of this novel is fast but not too fast. I feel like I’ve learned so much stuff from it that I never want to put it down (unfortunately my lunch break isn’t long enough! I might have to start spending my days off on releases! by Glynn…). If you are new to the Starship’s Mage series, do yourself a favor and start from book 1. The series is 100% worth enjoying from the start.

This is a good story, as are all the Glynn Stewart books I’ve read, especially this series. But know that the hero of the Starships Mage series, Damien Montgomery, has only a small part in this book. For this is the story of the Princess, Sorcerer Admiral Jane Alexander, and her lieutenant, Pennant Lieutenant Roslyn Chambers in the final part of the War with the Republic of Faith and Reason. There’s a lot of action, plot, betrayal, magic and heroes but this series is about Damien and he is deeply missed. I really hope he makes a full return in the sequel. Although I received an earlier draft of this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy, this honest review is based on the last copy I purchased for my permanent collection.
