The Seven Necessary Sins For Women And Girls – Audiobook Online
The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls is a non-fiction book by Mona Eltahawy that challenges the societal norms and expectations that limit women’s abilities to lead a fulfilling life. The book identifies seven necessary sins that women and girls must embrace to achieve freedom and equality: anger, attention, profanity, ambition, power, violence, and lust. Eltahawy argues that women are taught to suppress and tame their emotions, desires, and voices in ways that limit their full potential. She suggests that it is time for women to reject these societal expectations and embrace their instincts and ambitions instead. By doing so, women can challenge existing power structures and create a more just and equal world. The book examines each “sin” in detail, using personal stories and real-world examples to illustrate how these qualities can empower women. Eltahawy argues that by embracing these “sins,” women can break free from their constraints and pave the way for future generations of women to live a life free from oppression. The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls is a bold and insightful call to action for women everywhere. It challenges and inspires readers to reject societal expectations and embrace their true selves, empowering them to become leaders and agents of change in their own lives and beyond.
The Seven Necessary Sins For Women And Girls – Audiobook Online By: Mona Eltahawy
A bold and uncompromising feminist manifesto shows women and girls how to challenge, disrupt, and destroy patriarchy by accepting the qualities they have been trained to avoid.
Embracing the power of the #MeToo movement, feminist activist Mona Eltahawy advocates a powerful, vocal approach to teaching women and girls to harness their power through what she calls “” seven necessary sins” that women and girls are not allowed to commit. : anger, ambition, vulgarity, violence, attention – seeking, lust and power. All the necessary “sin” that women and girls need to spew out.
Eltahawy knew that patriarchy was alive and well, and she was fed up: Being sexually assaulted during a hajj at the age of 15. Being groped on the dance floor of a Montreal nightclub at age 50. Countless other injustices during that time period. Unraveling her call to action are the stories of activists and ordinary women around the world – from South Africa to China, Nigeria to India, Bosnia to Egypt – who are tap into their inner rage and transcend the boundaries of race, class, creed, and gender that make it very difficult for marginalized women to be heard. Instead of teaching women and girls how to survive the toxic system they’ve been trapped in, Eltahawy equips them with weapons to tear it down.
Brilliant, bold and energetic, The Seven Essential Sins of Women and Girls is a manifesto for all feminists in the fight against patriarchy.
I will listen again and buy print copies to places. Eltahawy keeps his listeners engaged without trying to entertain or dryly lecture his audience. Although she holds dual citizenship in the US and Egypt, she doesn’t just focus on those views. She wants to defeat patriarchy as an institution that she sees as the main driver of oppression across the globe. She makes good arguments and challenges the reader. This will definitely remain a favorite in my collection.
I want to support this novel because it tells a lot of truth, albeit rather bitterly. It focuses on the negative without ultimately going to the positive. What I do most, however, is point out the social inequality against Muslim women. It is not against Christianity in itself. It is against patriarchy in any form or fashion. It is direct and solid. I support it because it’s honest and lucid. I support this story because it is a woman’s cry for help against injustice against women everywhere.
