“The Spider” is a non-fiction book written by Barry Levine, which delves into the story of one of the most notorious sex traffickers of modern times, Jeffrey Epstein, and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell. The book explores in detail how the two operated within a web of criminal activity, luring vulnerable young women and engaging in their sexual exploitation. Through extensive research and interviews, the author exposes the depth of Epstein and Maxwell’s connections to the rich and powerful, including high-profile politicians and celebrities. The audiobook, narrated by Robert Petkoff and Barry Levine himself, provides a compelling account of the Epstein scandal and its aftermath, shedding light on a dark and disturbing chapter of recent history.

Who is Jeffrey Epstein? A Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist unearths previously unreported details in the most comprehensive account of the disgraced tycoon’s life, death, and criminal network, including his role the role of Ghislaine Maxwell.

By now, the basics of Jeffrey Epstein’s gruesome crime – the decades-long mass abuse of young women and minors – were all too familiar. But for all that has been written about Epstein since his shocking death in a cell below Manhattan, a staggering amount remains. A shy Brooklyn kid turned rebellious oligarch, Jeffrey Epstein never wanted to follow the rules of polite society. He is elusive in life and he remains just as elusive in death.

What is known is that he had amassed nearly $600 million by the time of his death. That fortune allowed Epstein to pursue a life of secrecy, privilege, moving between his fortress-like homes in Manhattan, New Mexico and Little St. James, his private island. Behind these closed doors, Epstein socializes with scientists and world leaders, while hunting down helpless young women.

In The Spider, Barry Levine shines light into the darkest corners of Epstein’s world, including:

  • Epstein’s young adulthood and earliest accusations of sexual misconduct
  • Epstein’s shady source of wealth and business dealings
  • Epstein’s circle of confidants and employees, especially the nature of his long relationship with society Ghislaine Maxwell his relationships with powerful men, including Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, Les Wexner and Donald Trump
Epstein’s final hours as a free man in Paris and the covert operation to arrest him at the New Jersey airport before he can flee
  • New details on Epstein’s final days in prison and the mystery surrounding his death
  • The Spider exposes how Epstein ran and evaded justice for so long – and how he drew so many others into his criminal network.

The author did a great job researching and writing this very interesting account of a real monster and his dirty deeds. Too bad Jeffrey Epstein wasn’t taken away the first time he was arrested and charged. Instead, his supporters and money got him slapped on the wrist while the victims were the ones being punished. Too bad he never had to appear in court and respond to his accusers. I have no doubt that someone killed him to keep quiet. This story proves that money really speaks.
