The Suffering By Rin Chupeco – Audiobook Online

The Suffering is the second book in the series The Girl from the Well written by Rin Chupeco. This young adult horror novel continues the story of Okiku, a vengeful spirit who seeks justice for murdered children. The book delves deeper into Okiku’s past and her ongoing mission to protect innocent souls from malevolent spirits.

The story picks up where the first book left off, with Okiku and Tark, a teenage boy with a connection to the supernatural, traveling to Japan in search of answers. Tark’s cousin, Callie, has been possessed by a powerful and dangerous spirit known as the Jorōgumo. As they arrive in Japan, they discover that Callie’s possession is just one part of a larger plot involving a group of ghost hunters called the Aokigahara Rangers.

The Aokigahara Rangers are led by Masao, a man who believes he can control and use spirits for his own gain. He has been capturing and imprisoning vengeful spirits in order to harness their power. Okiku and Tark join forces with another group of ghost hunters called the Inari Seven, who have been fighting against Masao’s cruel practices.

As they delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding the Jorōgumo and Masao’s plans, Okiku and Tark face numerous challenges and encounters with malevolent spirits. They must navigate treacherous landscapes, including haunted forests and abandoned buildings, while also dealing with their own personal demons.

Throughout the book, Chupeco explores themes of revenge, redemption, and the consequences of one’s actions. Okiku grapples with her own desire for vengeance while also trying to protect those she cares about. Tark struggles with his own connection to the supernatural world and his role in helping Okiku.

As the story reaches its climax, Okiku and Tark must confront Masao and the Jorōgumo in a final battle for justice and freedom. The fate of innocent souls hangs in the balance as they fight to put an end to the Aokigahara Rangers’ cruel practices.

The Suffering is a chilling and atmospheric novel that combines elements of horror, Japanese folklore, and ghost stories. Rin Chupeco’s writing style creates a sense of unease and tension throughout the book, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. The characters are well-developed and complex, with their own personal struggles and motivations.

Overall, The Suffering is a captivating continuation of The Girl from the Well series, delving deeper into the world of vengeful spirits and the battle between good and evil. It is a must-read for fans of horror and supernatural fiction

The novel is a companion novel to Rin Chupeco’s Girl From the Well, which Kirkus calls a “Stephen King-like horror story”.

After narrowly escaping an evil spirit trying to destroy his soul, Tark vows to dedicate his life to protecting innocent people. So when his mentor goes missing on a ghost hunting expedition, Tark and Okiku join the search. But the Suicide Forest has lured thousands of people to their deaths over the centuries and is filled with their sadness.

With time running out and danger at every turn, Tark will become a hero – or die trying.

This is a great story; I can’t put it down. I highly recommend this and the first one if you want a good story about ghosts hunting for revenge. good reader but a bit monotonous however it’s not so bad that you can’t enjoy the story. enjoy! The first time I heard it, I couldn’t put it down, it’s beautifully written and can send chills down my spine. I still love listening to it. I plan to listen and buy a hard copy to read and add to my collection

This is an amazing book. maybe it’s the love and care that the scary aspects are depicted, maybe it’s the connection between Tark and Okiku, maybe it’s the atmosphere that the author and narrator create. Either way, I love this, as much as I loved the first entry in this series.

At first, I was a little annoyed by the change of opinion between the Girl in the Well and the Sorrowful, but as I began the story, I found myself increasingly preferring Tark’s point of view. In the end, I realized that I would miss him when it was all over as much as I missed his ghostly companion.

this is a great sequel to The Girl in the Well, and if it proves to be the end of the story, it’s a fitting ending, although I find myself wanting more.

A hauntingly beautiful story, part love, part coming-of-age drama, part self-discovery for those of us struggling with inner darkness and a Part is romance.

The story may have been inspired by Japanese legends, and in the end it doesn’t matter how accurately they are described. The author has a way of drawing you into it and making it feel personal. The story is very well written and rich in detail.

The author was able to get me into the book. It’s horrible and brilliant. I can see the village around me, get goosebumps when ghosts are nearby and feel like someone is watching me. The author’s article is amazing. I appreciate Tark’s sense of humor throughout. The relationship between Tark and Okiku is clear and there is no doubt how strong their love is. It makes me love them more than they love each other. There’s no other book like it and I love how it ends. They’ve been through enough together to deserve their ending!
