The Suicide House By Charlie Donlea – Audiobook Online

The Suicide House is the second book in the Rory Moore/Lane Phillips series written by Charlie Donlea. This psychological thriller follows the story of forensic reconstructionist Rory Moore and her partner, Lane Phillips, as they investigate a series of mysterious deaths at an elite boarding school known as Westmont Preparatory High.

The novel begins with a prologue that introduces readers to a chilling event that took place at Westmont Preparatory High several years ago. A group of students, known as the “Butterfly Girls,” committed suicide by jumping off the school’s roof. The incident shocked the community and left many unanswered questions.

Fast forward to the present day, Rory Moore receives a call from her father, who is also a detective, informing her about a new case at Westmont. A student named Sarah Donovan has been found dead in her room, and it appears to be suicide. However, Rory’s father suspects foul play and asks her to look into it.

Rory and Lane arrive at Westmont under the guise of being teachers, determined to uncover the truth behind Sarah’s death. As they delve deeper into the investigation, they discover that Sarah was not the only student who died under suspicious circumstances. There is a pattern emerging, and it becomes clear that there is a serial killer targeting students at Westmont.

The duo starts unraveling the secrets of the Butterfly Girls and their connection to the recent deaths. They uncover a hidden world of dark secrets, twisted relationships, and psychological manipulation within the school’s walls. As they get closer to identifying the killer, Rory finds herself becoming a target, putting her own life in danger.

Throughout the book, Donlea skillfully weaves together multiple timelines and perspectives to keep readers guessing. The narrative alternates between Rory’s present-day investigation and flashbacks to events leading up to the Butterfly Girls’ suicides. These flashbacks provide crucial insights into the characters’ motivations and the events that shaped their lives.

As Rory and Lane dig deeper, they encounter a cast of complex and unreliable characters, each with their own secrets and motives. The author keeps readers on their toes with unexpected twists and turns, making it difficult to discern who can be trusted.

The Suicide House explores themes of trauma, manipulation, and the lasting effects of past events. It delves into the dark side of human nature and the lengths people will go to protect their secrets. Donlea’s writing is atmospheric and suspenseful, creating a sense of unease that lingers throughout the story.

In conclusion, The Suicide House is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep readers hooked from beginning to end. With its intricate plot, well-developed characters, and atmospheric setting, Charlie Donlea delivers another thrilling installment in the Rory Moore/Lane Phillips series.

Inside the walls of Indiana’s elite Westmont Preparatory High School, expectations are high and the rules are strictly enforced. But in the woods beyond the manicured campus and the playgrounds is an abandoned boarding house that’s famous as a nightlife spot for Westmont students. Here, only one rule applies: don’t let your candle go out – unless you want the Man in the Mirror to find you….

A year ago, two students were killed there in a gruesome massacre. The case has since been the focus of a popular podcast, Suicide House. Even though a teacher has been found guilty of murder, mysteries and questions remain. The most pressing of which is why so many students who survived that horrible night have returned to the hostel – to commit suicide.

Rory, an expert in cold case reconstructions, is working on the podcast The Suicide House with Lane, recreating the night of the murders to find answers that have left schools, towns and the police dodge. But the more they learn about troubled students, cold-hearted perpetrators, and a dangerous game that went horribly wrong, the more they believe that something sinister is still going on. Inside Westmont Prep, the game isn’t over yet. It thrives on secrecy and silence. And for its players, there may be no way to win – or to survive….

I love this author!!! I hope he plans to continue the Rory Moore series!!! It was a great read full of twists and turns that I never experienced! Usually I can find the end of a mystery horror movie….not this one!!! And I love it!

Loved the book and the fact that he made it hard for me to find the killer until the very last minute, which I loved. But maybe in this book don’t say dark lord every 5 minutes – say beer or drink or foamy liquid or something else. This is my only complaint. Second book I read from this author and both are excellent.

Just discovered this author. Loved previous books, just waiting for a book that doesn’t measure up to the previous ones. No, also a great book. Ahhhhhh, moving on to Charlie Donlea’s next book, with great anticipation.

I love a good mystery story and this has me saying “just one more chapter” over and over as the story progresses.
There are a lot of characters in the book and in the beginning I was a bit lost trying to keep up with the introduction of new characters and then going back to the old characters but as I kept reading it all came into place. location and it happened very quickly. read from there. Forensic reconstructionist Rory Moore and her partner Psychologist Lane Phillips are returning the characters from Charlie Donlea’s Some Choose Darkness novels, however, the stories are written so you don’t have to. Read the first part to enjoy this part.
