The Summer Bride Chance Sisters Romance, Book 4 – Audiobook Online

“The Summer Bride” by Anne Gracie is the fourth book in the Chance Sisters Romance series, and is narrated by Alison Larkin. The audiobook is a charming and romantic tale set in Regency-era England, and follows the story of Daisy Merrick, a lively and independent young woman, and Flynn, the handsome and mysterious Scottish earl who becomes her husband.

The novel explores themes of love, family, and the search for identity, and is filled with witty banter, steamy romance, and emotional depth. Gracie’s writing is engaging and descriptive, transporting listeners to a bygone era and immersing them in the characters’ world. Larkin’s narration is praised for its ability to capture the nuances of Gracie’s writing, and her portrayal of Daisy is particularly well received for capturing her vivacious spirit and intelligence. Her voice is soothing and easy to listen to, making the audiobook a perfect accompaniment for a cozy afternoon or a long commute.

Listeners who enjoy historical romance will find much to love in “The Summer Bride”, and fans of the Chance Sisters Romance series will be delighted by the chance to revisit old friends and discover new ones. Overall, the audiobook is a delightful and satisfying read that will leave listeners with a warm and happy heart.

The extremely independent Daisy Chance has a dream – and it has nothing to do with marriage or children (or being under the control of any man). Raised in poverty, she has the passion – and talent – to make beautiful clothes. Daisy aims to be the best tailor in London.

Patrick Flynn, a dashing, rich and ambitious Irishman, has entered society to find an aristocratic bride. Instead, he finds himself increasingly attracted to the stubborn, intelligent, and outspoken Daisy. She was wrong in every way – except the way she made his heart race.

However, when Flynn proposed, Daisy refused. She won’t give up her hard-won independence. Besides, she doesn’t want to join the pretty ladies of society – she wants to dress them up. However, she might consider becoming Flynn’s secret mistress….

But Flynn wants a wife, not a mistress, and when Flynn has his heart set on something, nothing can stand in his way.

Daisy Chance is the prey of the Chance sisters. She grew up in a brothel and had neither the desire nor the attitude to be the lady her aunt Beatrice wanted her to be. Instead, Daisy dreams of becoming London’s most sought-after tailor and she’s on her way. Daisy doesn’t care about marriage or children, she would rather be a successful businesswoman and never have to depend on men again.

For me, the best part of Summer Bride is not another version of My Fair Lady or Pygmalion. While I love a good makeover story as much as anyone, there’s something beautiful about the two instead of discovering that they love each other as they are. Yes, Daisy’s voice is annoying and sometimes I want her to be Audrey Hepburn. Instead, we have a lovely romance between two people who decide to look down on “failures” and just be themselves.

There’s a scene in Summer Bride that is one of the most heartbreaking scenes I’ve read in quite a while. I won’t spoil it for you but it involves a pair of shoes that Flynn made for Daisy. It is beautifully done and classic Gracie. For that scene alone, Summer Bride is worth picking.

By the end of the book, I wanted to shake Daisy. Her stubbornness is understandable but it’s actually aggravated. I also don’t like how Gracie ended up bonding Flynn and Daisy together, which makes sense but that’s not the way of true romance.

Summer brides are well done. It’s a great book well worth the time to read.
