I read the first book with my daughter, and we both enjoyed the characters, the family’s struggles, and the lessons it taught. I still recommend that book.

The problem with this sequel is that the lessons seem to be at the expense of everything else, and the nuance of “any opinion other than this one is for bad people” is gone.

From the beginning the book lectures you instead of letting you realize things through the characters, and honestly it’s kind of boring. We got over part of it and gave up on it. Don’t suggest.
