I’ll Be Gone in the Dark is a biography based on a serial rapist in California. The book is written by Michelle McNamara. She was an American author (died at a very young age of 46) with expertise in bringing the most significant true crime stories in nonfictional books.

The main narrator of this book is Gabra Zackman. Gillian Flynn was part of the introduction. All of the narrators in their given capacity did a fantastic job by keeping a professional and reasonably straightforward tone, which was the requirement of such a biography.

The book tells a haunting story of a serial rapist who eventually turned into a murderer during the 70s and 80. HE was operating in California. The book is also about a gifted journalist who died a very tragic death while deeply investigating a case.  

For more than a decade, a violent and a mysterious predator committed as many as 50 sexual assaults in the northern California region. Later, he moved to the South side and was behind 10 murders. After that, he disappeared all of a sudden while escaping capture.  Police force and some of the best detectives operating there.  That made her interview many victims and pore many police reports.

This is a book based on reality and the audience finds it as a true crime thriller. The obsession seen in the rapist haunts you just in the way it haunted Michelle McNamara, the writer. The book is a must read and the experience in audiobook will be phenomenal.
