Best Selling Audiobook – Firefly Lane By Kristin Hannah
Once again Kristin Hannah tailors a fantastic story for the fans about two women who came closer to one another for a purpose. Although there are two women in the tale it is not like The Nightingale at all.
That novel was about the impact of the World War on women and this one is about two ordinary girls of the society. Kate Mularkey and Tully happen to live in the same street but they have nothing in common at all. Kate is the average type who does not take part in any of the cool stuff which girls usually like.
There is a dire desire in her to rise high in the society of the girls who take part in cool stuff but she just cannot move along. Then there is Tully the opposite of whatever Kate stands for. Tully is beautiful and possesses all the charms which a girl of the eighties can dream of. When the two become friends they start knowing each other much closer and with it start to know the weaknesses that the other possesses. Tully though from the outside tries to be a cool girl but from the inside, all she wants is a nice husband.
She wants to get married as quickly as possible so that she can have children and well-settled life. These strange developments in the personalities of Kate and Tully make them even deceive one another as they become jealous of what the other friend has in life. In this tale of lying, cheating, hate, and wants Susan Ericksen’s voice lands perfectly in the narration department. Only The Great Alone shares some same concepts like this one.
But the stories in Hannah’s world are never the same in an aspect of life. Characters have a psyche of their own all the time which makes them enjoy or suffer in the ending scenes.
