Free Online Audiobook – Golden Buddha | Oregon Files Book 1 By Clive Cussler
Golden Buddha is a thriller, spy fiction, nautical fiction written by Clive Cussler and Craig Dirgo. It is the first installment in The Oregon Files series. If you want to read something different that this series, check out Inca Gold. Also, you can listen to Marauder as another great title by the author.
The narration by J. Charles is a major let-down. His accents are very bad. It would have been better if he attempted to read it in a monotone because he is making a laughing stock out of the characters.
This book starts with Juan Cabrillo and his team as they embark on a mission in The Oregon Files. Although it is hinted that this is not their first mission as a team, in the context of this book, it is the first. The team is tasked with bringing back a stolen statue that was taken from the Dalai Lama. Their success will determine the fate of Tibet. The team risks their lives as they attempt to complete the mission, playing the Russians off against the Chinese. They sail from Cuba to Macau in their state-of-the-art vessel which is disguised as a heap of junk. They use their wit and brains to outsmart a billionaire and the Macau Police. They are also able to swindle one hundred million dollars worth of bonds from a billionaire named Marcus. Finally, they also convince the UN to rally and launch a military coup in Tibet.
This is a fine audiobook that has been ruined by subpar narration and audio quality. Besides that, the story is fine. It is a multi-pronged plot with numerous twists and turns. The characters are also very interesting.
